Vehicles between 15 and 28 tonnes are now able to access the valley with Council permission, under stop/slow conditions.

As the area remains a construction site, safety procedures must be followed.

For vehicles between 15 and 28 tonnes to access the site:

• Please email the Manager Transport and Public Access, Nicole Hume at nhume@bmcc.nsw.gov.au with at least two working days’ notice to obtain a permit for the heavy vehicle access.
• A permit will be required to be carried and shown to traffic control on site. Traffic controllers will then coordinate access through the site.

Please note that if the same vehicle needs to access the valley multiple times, only one permit will be required. Vehicles over 15 tonnes that are not scheduled to enter the valley will be turned back to ensure safety is maintained on site.

Traffic will be heavier than usual in both directions on the Princes Hwy approaching Kogarah as fans travel to the stadium in the busy evening peak.

Local roads around the stadium may close ahead of match start including Jubilee Avenue, Park Street and English Street. Roads will re-open once crowds have cleared the area.

Fans driving to the game should allow extra time for parking and be aware of increased pedestrian activity on local roads.

Country Classic Day at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse. First race at 12.20pm, last race from 6pm.

Road closures and clearways will be in place for New Year's Eve (NYE) at Taronga Zoo in Mosman. Parking is very limited in the area and Zoo parking will fill quickly, consider the public transport options.

• From 3pm NYE until 2am New Year's Day (NYD): Bradleys Head Rd and Athol Wharf Rd approaching the Zoo will be closed.
• From 11.30pm NYE until 2am NYD: sections of Bradley's Head Rd, Prince Albert St, Thompson St and Whiting Beach Rd will be closed.

Special event clearways will be in effect at the following times and locations:

• From 1pm NYE to 3am NYD on sections of Spit Rd, Athol Wharf Rd, Bradley Head Rd and Whiting Beach Rd.
• From 6pm NYE to 3am NYD on sections of Military Rd near Belmont Rd and Mandolong Rd.
• Clearways will also be in effect along Falcon St and Military Rd between Spit Rd, Mosman and the Pacific Hwy, Crows Nest on both sides from 3pm NYE until 3am NYD

• From 3pm road closures will be in place on sections of Darling St, Ballast Point Rd, Booth St, Brent St, Evan St, Grove St, Joseph St, Hartley St, Hanover St, Loughlin St, Mackenzie St, Mansfield St, McKell St, Mullens St, Rose St, Terry St, The Crescent, Waragal Ave, Wharf Rd and Yeend St.
• There will be no access for general traffic from Victoria Rd into the Balmain Peninsula after 3pm.
• Access will be permitted for Balmain Access Permit holders only, buses, taxis and other authorised vehicles. NSW Police will be onsite vetting vehicles at closure locations.
• From 3pm until 7pm, Taxis and rideshare vehicles will be permitted through closures with proof of residence pick up / drop off. From 7pm until 1am, all taxis and rideshare vehicles will not be permitted through closure points.
• Roads will reopen from 1am on New Year's Day or at the direction of NSW Police when safe to do so. Heavy traffic is expected exiting the area after the midnight fireworks so be patient or delay your travel until after 1am.

Special event clearways are in effect on Victoria Rd from The Crescent, Rozelle to Westbourne St, Drummoyne (western side) from 3pm NYE until 2am NYD. From 3pm extended no-parking and bus zones will be in effect on sections of Darling St, Eaton St and Grove St, and no-stopping zones will be in effect on sections of Montague St.

One-way traffic conditions will be in place on sections of George St, Greenwich Rd, Manns Ave and St Lawrence St.

Roads at Dee Why Beach will be closed from 4pm to 10pm:

• Howard Ave between The Strand and Clyde Road and

• Managed access will be maintained for residents on Howard Ave only.

Between 6:30pm and 8:50pm, there will be one-way managed access on Oaks Avenue from Monash Pde to Pacific Pde entry via Oaks Avenue only. No vehicle access permitted between 8:50pm and 9:30pm.

Special event clearways will be effect from 12pm to 10pm on the western side of The Strand between Oaks Ave and Dee Why Pde.

Good Things Music Festival at Centennial Park from 11:30am to 10pm.

With thousands of fans expected to attend the music festival traffic is expected to be heavier than usual in the area.

Motorists should expect delays on roads approaching Centennial Park and Moore Park, including Anzac Pde, Lang Rd, Oxford St, Syd Einfeld Drive, Darley Rd, York Rd and Alison Rd.

Changed traffic conditions including road closures and changed access arrangements will be in effect to allow crowds to safely leave the park after the event.

• Driver Ave closed between MacArthur Ave (southern turning circle) and Lang Rd – no through road when accessing from Moore Park Road
• Lang Rd closed westbound from Errol Flynn Blvd to Anzac Pde - no right turn exit from Errol Flynn Blvd.
• Lang Rd closed between Moore Park Rd and Mitchell St - managed access permitted for local traffic.
• Moore Park Rd closed westbound from Oxford St to Cook Rd - no access to EQ precinct via Moore Park Rd, continue north on Oxford St and access via Oatley Rd and Moore Park Rd eastbound.

From 9pm to 11pm

• ​​Lang Rd closed from Anzac Pde to ​Errol Flynn Blvd (eastbound) - no access the EQ precinct via Anzac Pde, use Moore Park Rd.
• Moore Park Rd closed eastbound from Oatley Rd to Oxford St - managed access for traffic to EQ precinct via Gordon St and Cook Rd. No access to Oxford St.

Special event clearways will be in effect from 6am to 11pm on sections of Cleveland St, from 11am to 11pm on sections of Fitzroy St and Oxford St, and from 12:01am to 11.59pm on Driver Ave.

The Sydney Fish Market 36-hour trading period will start from 5am Monday 23 December to 5pm on Christmas Eve, Tuesday 24 December.

Heavy traffic is expected on the Western Distributor approaching the Pyrmont and Glebe off-ramps as well as on local roads in the area surrounding the Fish Market.

Motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time as parking will be in very high demand.

Parking is available at Sydney Fish Market car park, access via Bank St, and also nearby at Sydney Secondary College on Pyrmont Bridge Rd.

Motorists should follow the direction of traffic controllers, particularly if car parks are at capacity.

Pedestrian access to the markets will be via the corner of Bank St and Pyrmont Bridge Rd, Pyrmont Bridge Rd near Wattle St and opposite the Fish Market Light Rail stop on Bank St.

• Alfreda St between Brook St and Arden St

• Coogee Bay Rd between Brook St and Arden St
• Dolphin St from Brook St to Arden St/end of the road at Coogee Pavilion

• Carparks at Coogee beach off Dolphin St will also close from 12pm midday until 10.30pm.

• Vaucluse: roads into Vaucluse from New South Head Rd including Carrara Rd, Hopetoun Ave, Old South Head Rd, Petrarch Ave, Queens Ave, Serpentine Pde. Vaucluse Rd will be closed southbound and remain open for one-way northbound traffic only.

Roads will reopen from 2am or once crowds have cleared however motorists should expect heavy traffic leaving the area after the midnight fireworks and should travel later to avoid the peak traffic.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to ring in the New Year at the NYE event in Parramatta Park from 5pm - 9.30pm. Fireworks at 9pm. Entry is free and no tickets are required.

Parramatta Park will be closed to all vehicles from 6am on Tuesday 31 December 2024. There will be no parking inside the Park and a number external parking spaces around the Park will not be available due to event operations.

Motorists should expect some delays throughout Parramatta CBD and surrounding Parramatta Park, motorists should also exercise caution and be aware of increased pedestrian activity on roads in the area.

Road closures:

• Westmead from 4pm to 10pm: sections of Alfred St, Central Ave, Park Ave and Railway Pde
• Westmead from 6pm to 10pm: sections of Caroline St and Queens Rd
• Parramatta from 8pm to 10pm: sections of Argyle St and Park Pde
• Parramatta from 8.30pm to 10pm: sections of George St, Hunter St, Macquarie St, O’Connell St and Pitt St

Street parking will be removed from 6am on NYE at the following locations:

• Park Ave between Queens Rd and Railway Pde
• Railway Pde between Park Ave and Westmead Station
• Queens Rd between Park Ave and Hawkesbury Rd
• Pitt St between Macquarie St and Park Ave.
• Macquarie St between O’Connell St and Marsden St

The Parramatta River cycle way between O’Connell Street Bridge and the Parramatta Park weir will be closed from 6am on event day.
